The pair looked ‘like a long-term couple in love,’ according to one witness at the restaurant.

Justin Theroux kept things low-key when he decided to propose to girlfriend Jennifer Aniston at a local eatery last Friday.

The pair was dining at Blue Hill in Greenwich Village when Theroux, who turned 41 that day, gave the actress an impressive engagement ring during their quiet dinner.

"[They looked] like a long-term couple in love," a source told People magazine.

Still, his simple gesture was an emotional one for Aniston, 43, who immediately welled up at the sight of the ring.

‘It's amazing to see how happy Justin makes Jen, and everyone was always hoping that he would propose,’ one source said.

"Jen cried," a close friend told Us Weekly.

According to Life & Style magazine, the ring is "a huge emerald-cut diamond," "a rectangle with tapered diamond baguettes on the sides."

After the actress said "yes!" the pair got on the phone with their respective families to deliver the good news.

"Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage," a rep for the "Wanderlust" actor told People magazine.

"Everyone is really excited for them," the source told People. "It's amazing to see how happy Justin makes Jen, and everyone was always hoping that he would propose."

In fact, the magazine reports, Theroux had been "dying to do it."

"They have the same low-key attitude about life," a friend of the pair told the magazine. "They just click and complement each other."

This will be Theroux's first marriage, and will be the second marriage for Aniston, who was married to Brad Pitt before they split in 2005.
