Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis end 14-year relationship - Los Angeles Times

After a year of dark shadows surrounding their longtime love, Johnny Depp and actress Vanessa Paradis are over.

With 14 years, two children and a quiet family life in the South of France under their belts, the pair "have amicably separated," according to Depp's publicist.

"Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children," the rep added Tuesday in a statement to "Entertainment Tonight."

Trouble was imminent in January, when several tabloid reports presented evidence that Depp and Paradis were living separate lives and hadn't appeared on nary a red carpet together in more than a year.

A report out Tuesday said the duo, who share daughter Lily-Rose and son Jack, tried their best to salvage their bond.

"They've tried for months to save the relationship," a source told People magazine, "but have known for weeks that it couldn't be saved. "

In the wake of the announcement, Paradis is off to France to promote a film. Depp is reportedly back in Los Angeles, where he's been residing during the rift. Stay tuned to the Ministry for updates.
