Good news for fans of Michael J. Fox: The veteran actor is considering a potential return to television in 2013. The news of Fox's return was first reported by Vulture, and confirmed to The Clicker by a spokesperson at Sony Pictures Television, the company developing the show.

"There's a tremendous amount of interest," a source familiar with the show pitch tells us. "The show is likely to land on a broadcast network, and they're all very interested right now."

Scant details about the project are available, and Sony is staying tight lipped beyond confirmation, but the source did say that the show is a comedy. According to Vulture, the show will be inspired by the actor's life and directed by Will Gluck ("Easy A"), and writer Sam Laybourne ("Cougar Town," "Arrested Development") is attached.

A comedy is a natural fit for Fox, who has been successful in the genre with his run on ABC's "Spin City" (1996-2000) and of course, NBC's "Family Ties" (1982-1989), which made Fox a household name.

Although he left "Spin City" in 2000 as symptoms of his Parkinson's disease worsened, he's hardly been absent from television in the years since. Fox had runs on "Boston Legal" and "Rescue Me," and most recently had a recurring role on "The Good Wife," for which he's nominated for an Emmy.
