Live, from New York, itâs a lot of Chicago talent.
âSaturday Night Liveâ is adding three new featured players, all of whom cut their teeth in the Chicago comedy scene.
Aidy Bryant trained with iO Chicago and Annoyance Theatre and was an ensemble member of The Second City e.t.c. stage, where she wrote and performed in âWeâre All in This Room Together,â which she recently left. The Columbia College Chicago graduate is part of the iO team Virgin Daiquiri. She was in the 2010 Annoyance Theatre show âSwear Jarâ with current âSNLâ player Vanessa Bayer.
Tim Robinson, also a Second City alum, performed on its Mainstage and in its national touring company. He plays with iOâs Cook County Social Club. Origianlly from the Detroit area, Robinson wrote and performed two revues on Second Cityâs Mainstage, âSpoiler Alert: Everybody Diesâ and âSouth Side of Heaven.â
Oak Park native Cecily Strong studied at iO and The Second City training center in the conservatory program. She was part of Second Cityâs national touring company since last year and worked with Second City Theatricals aboard the Norwegian Jewel cruise ship.
The trio joins the cast as three veteran âSNLâ members â" Kristin Wiig, Andy Samberg and Abby Elliott â" depart NBCâs long-running late-night show.
âSNLâ kicks off its 38th season Saturday with host Seth MacFarlane (âFamily Guyâ) and musical guest Frank Ocean.
