Angelina Jolie's Full Maleficent Costume Revealed In Set Photo - Cinema Blend

When Disney announced yesterday that they had officially begun production on the fairy tale spin Maleficent, they included a first look at Angelina Jolie in costume as the title character, who you may remember better as the evil queen from their classic Sleeping Beauty film. In Maleficent the queen takes the central role, in what they're called "the untold story of Disney's most beloved villain." And now with production underway, some set photos have given us an even closer look at what that villain looks like-- including the sinister looking robes Jolie is wearing. Take a look at the photo below, via E!.

Of course, she doesn't look quite so intense walking through a grassy field on the English set, but you can bet with director Robert Stromberg behind the camera-- he's a former production designer who won an Oscar for Avatar-- the look will be complete. I still can't really get over those gnarled horns on her head-- she looks like she could be the older sister of Loki from The Avengers, but with possibly even more world-ending powers.

Jolie may be the main attraction in Maleficent, but she's joined by a pretty spectacular cast, including Elle Fanning as the pure-of-heart Princess Aurora, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson and Lesley Manville as the pixies who take her in, and Sam Riley as Maleficent's right-hand man who also has the power to turn into a raven.
