Comic-Con 2012 begins today, and we are ready to geek out - USA TODAY

From now till Sunday, USA TODAY will be on the ground in San Diego at the 2012 Comic-Con, the annual pop-culture extravaganza featuring the best of movies, TV shows, comic books and all your favorite entertainment.

The action starts tonight for "Preview Night," where con-goers will be able to hunt for comics and toys and see huge displays put on by studios, networks and companies. (The Walking Dead always has something fun in store for fans of the AMC TV show, and LEGO and Warner Bros. have teamed for a pair of life-sized LEGO models of Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Don't touch, or you'll have more than Sauron to deal with.)

Thursday begins the four-day string of panels and special events for fans, with everything from the last Twilight movie to the new Superman flick Man of Steel and from the HBO hit Game of Thrones to the final season of Fringe. Oh, and there will be A-listers a plenty, too: Matt Damon and Jodie Foster will be on hand for the panel for their new movie Elysium, it's hard to imagine Robert Downey Jr. not being at the Iron Man 3 panel, and Peter Jackson is flying in from New Zealand just to give Middle-earth lovers a sneak peek at The Hobbit.

Stay tuned to Live From for all the news and scoop coming out of Comic-Con. But also follow me and TV reporter Bill Keveney on Twitter for 140-character accounts on all the action through Sunday - I'll be Instagramming looks at what's going on at the convention floor tonight.

May the Force be with us!
