Slideshow: Scenes from Bonnaroo 2012 - OCRegister

The 11th Bonnaroo Music Festival, the internationally renowned gathering every June in Manchester, Tenn., got underway lightly Thursday afternoon with sets from rising acts like White Denim, Phantogram, Yelawolf and recent breakout band Alabama Shakes. But one of the most widely attended fests in the U.S. gathered steam on Friday, bolstered by standout turns from stars of hip-hop (Ludacris, Black Star) and genre-defying indie music (Feist, St. Vincent, tUnE-yArDs) as well as another remarkable performance from Radiohead.

Our tireless festival-hopper David Hall is out there in the thick of it ... and until this morning it wasn't looking good that he'd be able to file much at anything, least of all photos, seeing as his laptop nearly crapped out on him. Miraculously, his operating system has recovered, and the photos are pouring in. Click the pic above to see a big batch from Days 1 and 2, covering all of the above names and more.

But between shooting sets, salvaging his computer and bumping into Justin Vernon at a nearby waffle house, there's been little time to write much. Stay tuned for dispatches about highlights and plenty more snaps from the rest of the weekend, including Day 3 heavyweights Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice Cooper, the Roots and more, plus Day 4's finale featuring Phish, the Beach Boys, Bon Iver, the Shins, Young the Giant and fun.
