Smacker for Chris Brown from Rihanna - Scottish Daily Record

THE Umbrella singer snogged the ex-boyfriend who viciously beat her up.

IT should have been a night of celebration as Rihanna picked up Video of the Year but instead it marked a new low for the singer.

She chose the VMAs to share a very public kiss with Chris Brown, the man who savagely beat her up.

Despite Brown’s ferocious attack on his then girlfriend back in 2009, he was still deemed a suitable winner of two awards â€" and was further rewarded when 24-year-old Ri stopped off to give him a kiss after she scooped her own gong.

The singers shared the intimate moment in front of 10million television viewers who watched as Rihanna sashayed off stage at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles and Chris eagerly jumped up to greet her.

They kissed on the lips, hugged and as he sat back down, she affectionately ruffled his hair, thus confirming the worst-kept secret in showbiz â€" a reunion is on the cards.

Fans took straight to social networking sites to vent their anger. “Um, he HIT her”, “C’mon that guy beat the s*** out of her... & she still respects him.Low”, “Rhi Rhi move on” and the simple, yet effective, “OH HELL NO” were just some of the remarks. Quite.

However, I’m reliably informed the couple are seriously considering going public with their rekindled relationship. A source said: “It’s been three years since the fight and Chris and Rihanna are tight again.

“A lot has been said and done behind closed doors and they’ve both moved on.

“They hooked up on holiday in St Tropez this summer and she went on Oprah to try to explain her ongoing feelings for him.

“This is the start of them going public. She’s testing it out to see what the reaction is like.”

Only a few weeks ago, Rihanna admitted that Brown still played a big part in her life.

She told Oprah: “I think he is the love of my life. He was my first love. Now we’re very close friends. And that’s not anything we’re going to try to change. It’s awkward because I still love him.

“My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me. I have to maintain it and suppress it.

“When you don’t understand those feelings you can make a lot of mistakes.”

Like snogging a violent ex in front of an audience of millions?
