'Twilight' Trailer VMA Countdown: 'Eclipse' Boosted The Action - MTV.com

Ask any Twi-hard and he or she will tell you that the lead up to a new "Twilight Saga" is almost as important as the actual film. For those anticipating "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," Thursday's (September 6) debut of the final trailer at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will be the most important event until the November 16 release.

As a way of counting down to the final sneak peek at "Breaking Dawn - Part 2"and looking back on the previews that came before it, MTV News is revisiting the classic trailers from the entire "Twilight Saga."

The third film of the series, "Eclipse," brought vampire-versus-vampire action unlike any of the other entries, and, appropriately, the final trailer was all-out war, which must have pleased star Kristen Stewart. MTV News spoke with Stewart shortly before the first, romance-heavy teaser debuted, and she shared her hope for action, saying she wanted to see "battle stuff. The newborns are going to look awesome."

When the final trailer finally did debut, the big reveal required a larger-than-life personality to help get the hearts of Twi-hards everywhere pumping. Oprah Winfrey played the trailer for "Eclipse" during an episode of her show on April 23, 2010, and it appeared online immediately after.

The preview shifts focus away from the love triangle at the forefront of the teaser and instead lets the epic final battle between the Cullen's and the newborns speak for itself.

The preview begins with Jacob warning Bella of the growing threat. Victoria is raising an army, and they have their sights set on Bella. "Someone's creating an army," Carlisle says.

This prompts Jacob find the silver-lining of the whole "Bella doesn't love me" situation. "As least we get to kill some vampires," he says.

The trailer concludes with some epic vampire-and-werewolf-versus-evil-vampire action courtesy of director David Slade.

Can the conclusion of "Breaking Dawn" bring the same kind of action that made "Eclipse" so memorable? You'll have to check out the final trailer when it premieres at the VMAs Thursday (September 6) at 8 p.m. ET to find out.
