Usher Family Friend Under Investigation for Jet Ski Accident That Left His ... - Hollywood Reporter

A family friend of Usher is under investigation after allegedly striking the R&B singer's stepson with a jet ski, leaving the 11-year-old brain dead.

Jeffrey S. Hubbard of Atlanta is being investigated for hitting Kyle Glover and a 15-year-old friend in Georgia's Lake Lanier while the two were floating on inner tubes Friday.

"Basically, a pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them," Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources told the New York Daily News.

Glover, the son of Usher's ex-wife, Tameka Foster, and the unidentified girl were both wearing life jackets at the time of the accident, Burgamy said.

“One minute the jet ski was running around, the next he ran over the top of them -- it happened that quickly,” Burgamy added. “It appears the watercraft did strike both juveniles, with the male taking the brunt of the force.”

Authorities said they don't believe that alcohol or a mechanical malfunction were to blame. But Burgamy declined to comment on potential charges against Hubbard and said that will depend on Glover's medical condition.

Glover reportedly remains in Egelston Hospital in Atlanta, where both children were airlifted following the accident.

“He’s bad,” Foster told Radar Online of her son with ex-husband Ryan Glover.

Foster and Usher were married from 2007-09. They have two sons: 4-year-old Usher Raymond V and 3-year-old Naviyd.

Usher's seventh studio album, Looking 4 Myself, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release last month.
