Was Chief Keef's Twitter Account Really Hacked? - MTV.com (blog)

By Carter Maness

In the midst of gigantic backlash for taunting recently-deceased rapper Lil Jojo following his murder earlier this week, Chicago upstart Chief Keef is claiming that his Twitter account was hacked and he never made the much-scrutinized comments.

The spat originally began as 18-year-old rapper Lil Jojo, real name Joseph Coleman, and Chief Keef-associate Lil Reese traded harsh words and threats. Jojo, who recently released a song called "3hunna K" that ripped on Keef, Reese and their 300 Squad, was gunned down in Chicago's South Side Englewood neighborhood.

Local police are now investigating possible links between Keef's camp and the murder but no information as to their progress has been made public as of yet. In the murder's aftermath, Keef appeared to take to his Twitter account to mock Jojo. "It's sad cus… Jojo wanted to be just like us #LMAO," he wrote.

The backlash was instant and within an hour Keef claimed that he had never made the controversial tweet, blaming the harsh words on a hacker. "My Twitter has been hacked," he wrote. "I think I'm making a new one dumb hating ass people," he said.

Keef’s manager, Rovan Manuel, told the Chicago Sun-Times that it took him awhile to catch onto the controversy that was brewing on Twitter, adding that he didn't think the tweets meant “anything personally." “A lot of the stuff Keef does, that’s just cause he’s a kid,” Manuel said. “People forget that he’s a kid, a teenager … and kids make mistakes. He makes mistakes the hard way.”

Keef also blamed hacking for his inflammatory comments towards Lupe Fiasco. After calling him a "hoe" and saying that he would "smack him like da lil b---h he is," Keef claimed that he had never dissed the veteran MC, who recently called Keef and his kind scary, and said someone was trying to make him look bad by taking over his account.

He (or his hacker) later retweeted a tweet from 50 Cent in the midst of the drama inviting him to hang out in New York.
